On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 the Hartnell College Men’s Baseball Team, faced Skyline College at our Tony Teresa Diamond. The Panthers broke their five game losing streak last Saturday, with a win against Monterey Peninsula College; with the final score of 5-4 runs. Last Tuesday, the Hartnell Baseball match against Skyline had been critical, with only a few games left in the season, pressure on the team had definitely increased. During the game on Tuesday, the Panthers broke the silence and scored in the bottom of the second inning against Skyline. Student-athletes, Adam Tanoue and Kenji Yamaguchi crossed the plate and placed some numbers for Hartnell onto the scoreboard. Ryan Clack’s base hit and Kekaulike Kalua’s home run hit raised the bar during the sixth inning.
The Panthers were on lead with a score of 5-0 runs. It wasn’t until the eighth inning that Skyline turned the tables with a three-run gain and the score changed to 5-3. With the Panthers still in the safe zone, Skyline came back with another trick up their sleeves. The Eagles hit a homerun and three runs crossed the plate, which moved the score to 5-6. In the bottom of the ninth inning the Hartnell Panthers had one shot to end the game for the win. Student-athlete Kacee Takasaki hit a homerun and Colby Hirano also scored a run. The Panthers won the game with a close score of 7-6! The Hartnell College Men’s Baseball Team will host their last home game for the season on April 27th against Cabrillo College. See you there!
