Two Conference Wins Take Team to 16-2

After winning its first two conference games and extending its win streak to 10 games, the Hartnell Volleyball team is ranked sixth in the state and third in Northern California. The Panthers have an overall season record of 16-2.
On Oct. 5, the team traveled to beat cross-county rival Monterey Peninsula College, with scores of 25-18,25-13,26-24. Leaders for this match were freshman middle blocker Justine Warwick (Salinas High), with five kills and two blocks, and freshman libero Gianna Cimino (Salinas High), with six kills and no serving errors. 
Two days earlier, the Panthers pulled out a major win at home against a tough West Valley team -- 17-25,25-21,25-20,21-25,15-10.  Match leaders were sophomore setter Megan Gonzalez (Carmel High), with 18 kills and no hitting errors, and freshman middle blocker Aixa Crespo (Covinton, La.), with nine kills and three blocks. 
Hartnell will be on the road Oct. 10 at City College of San Francisco and Oct. 12 at Cabrillo College.
