Prior to Hartnell: Tanya competed for Greenfield High School all four years but enjoyed breakout seasons her junior and senior years. Both seasons she placed top 10 in the Mission Trail Athletic League Championship. Her sophomore season, she was a member of the first ever state qualifying team for Greenfield High School. She brings to Hartnell College solid personals best of 20:43 at Toro Park, 20:50 at Crystal Springs, and 21:01 at Woodward Park.

"When it comes time to race Tanya can bring it just as well as anyone else. She had a very good spring where she completed her first track season. Tanya excelled at the steeplechase which I saw as a preview of what she could do this fall. She's starting ahead of her fitness last summer and should be contending for an All-Region honor at Toro Park come November. She knows that course and has great memories on it. I want to see her make one more before she's done with us."
