Richard Soratos

Bio

Coach Soratos will be coordinating the Panther defense, and he will be working with the linebackers. Having 34 years of coaching experience, Coach Soratos provides a wealth of knowledge for his players. He played football and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1980, He then attended UCLA (2 years) transferred back to Hartnell College in 1983 where he contributed to their Nor Cal and Conference Championship. Coach Soratos finished with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. As a young teen he worked in the strawberry fields, apricot orchard, and in the family grocery store. As an adult he worked at Custom Liquors, Casa Sorrento Pizza, and Castroville Cold Storage. He began a career in law enforcement with the Salinas Police Department on April 15, 1985. Now he is retired as a Sergeant from the Salinas Police (July 4, 2014). Coach Soratos has volunteered much of his coaching efforts with local high schools and youth leagues. He was at Alisal High School from 1993-2002 (10 seasons) 2 years Head JV coach, 8 years on varsity staff. (Coached WR, DB, QB, LB) and was the OC on varsity for 2 seasons. He volunteered for the Salinas Cardinal from 2003-2004 and was at Salinas High School 2006-2016 as the Defensive Coordinator. Coach is married (2015) to Patricia Barajas Soratos, who was born and raised in Salinas. They have three sons ages 34, 32, and 25 that all attended Hartnell. He is a grandfather of two - Alessandro (5) and Richie (3).
