Bio

Prior to Hartnell: Jiovanni competed in three seasons of cross country for the Condors of North Monterey County High School. As a senior he was a top 20 finisher at the CCS Championship. On the track his final season, Jiovanni surprised many with a sub 10:00 clocking over 3200 meters at the O'Condon Invitational. He placed fourth at the Gabilan Championship 3200 and 16th at the PCAL Championship.

"Jiovanni is one of the hardest working runners in our area. He did a great job following the plan Coach Ibarra laid for him at NMC. Breaking 10:00 his senior year with the 1600 personal best he had is extraordinary highlighting what a unique competitor he is. Jiovanni will surely thrive over a longer race that plays to his strengths. We didn't get to see him much this summer so it will be a question of how long until we see the benefits of having others to train with. I expect Jiovanni to come on strong right around conference time."
