Hartnell Women a Close Second at Coast
The Hartnell College women's track & field team headed into day two of the 2025 Coast Conference Championship trailing Coast Conference foe De Anza College and despite catching up and even moving ahead at several points in the meet, the Panthers would have to settle for an improved runner-up team finish. The Panthers were just six points out of first place and moved up one team spot from 2024. The women did have two individual event wins on the final day and set several important personal bests prior to the Northern California Championship.
Freshman Jenna Emerson rose to the top of the Coast Conference competition despite having been sick most of the week leading into the championship. She was a double winner taking the 100mh in 15.23, a lifetime best and eighth best in Hartnell history. She would shock conference favorite Kaylin Mootz in the 400mLH with another personal best 65.45 that took her to tenth all-time. Emerson also placed second in the 400m in 59.97, her third sub 60 this season and just 20 minutes after her 100mh victory. Emerson also picked up fourth place points in the long jump with a 4.76m. Roselyn Olivo was third in the 800 meters (2:30.14) and 5000m (19:32.91) and fifth in the 1500 meters (5:04.42). Janai Orozco was fourth in the 800m and 5000m and sixth in the 1500 meters. The 4x400 relay team of Emerson, Orozco, Flower, and Andrade were timed in 4:13.76 for fourth.
