Bio

Freshman Year: Valeria made an immediate impact her freshman year placing second to teammate Daniela Salazar at the first meet of the season. Valeria would be a staple of the top five in every meet. She placed third at the Coast Conference Championship and fourth in the Northern California Championship to earn all-conference and all-region honors. She saved her best race for last placing ninth at the CCCAA State Championship to become All-American.

Prior to Hartnell: Valeria graduated from North Salinas High School and did not start competing in cross country until her final two years. As a senior, Valeria made her up and comping presence known with a sevneth place finish at the PCAL Championship and a top 50 finish in just her second CCS Championship, nearly a 50 place improvement from her junior year.

"It was a challenging road returning to cross country competition this fall for Valeria but we are so glad she's here with us. She's prepared more for this season than her freshman year and that first season saw her earn All-American. All Valeria needs to do is decide what will her running be aimed toward and I'm confident she will make it happen. She's already on pace to move up to conference champion and become our first ever regional champion. I would love to see her become our first state champion! That would be make for a great pandemic comeback story!"
